Paul Keitz, PhD

Medicinal Chemistry

Paul is skilled in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and structure-based design of biologically active molecules, and he has extensive experience in drug discovery as a lead medicinal chemist, drug discovery team leader and pre-clinical safety team leader. He is the inventor, or co-inventor, of seven compounds that entered into GLP Safety studies, three of which advanced to clinical trials in humans. He trained in Chemistry for his bachelor’s degree at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry under Professor Gilbert Stork from Columbia University. Paul was a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Paul Bartlett at the University of California, Berkeley, and then was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore MD. Paul later focused on pharmaceutical research as a Research/Principal Scientist at Roche Palo Alto, he became a Portfolio Strategy Manager and Senior Research Manager at Roche before spending years as a Global Project Manager at Genentech, South San Francisco, CA
