CIRM Calpoly - Master Internship -
9 Months - Salaried

Central to preparing students for careers in regenerative medicine is a rigorous internship at a company or academic laboratory focused on Regenerative Medicine and/or Stem Cell Research. The Internship will occur over nine-months (Sep 1 – May 31) at one of our partner institutions. The Internship Project(s) will be designed to allow the students to progress from supervised to independent work, with the goal of collecting results of a publishable volume and quality. The Internship will culminate with a written report and oral presentation of the Internship Project, and an evaluation by the Intern’s Supervisor. Overall, the Internship will provide trainees the opportunity to master their laboratory skills, and develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

SENS - Undergraduate Internship -
3 Months - Salaried

SENS Research Foundation works to develop, promote, and ensure widespread access to therapies that cure and prevent the diseases and disabilities of aging by comprehensively repairing the damage that builds up in our bodies over time.

The SRF Summer Scholars Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Disease. Under the guidance of a scientific mentor, each Summer Scholar is responsible for his or her own research project in such areas as genetic engineering and stem cell research. The Summer Scholars Program emphasizes development of both laboratory and communication skills to develop well-rounded future scientists, healthcare professionals, and policy makers. Students participating in the program will hone their writing skills via periodic reports, which are designed to emulate text scientists commonly must produce. At the end of the summer, students will have the opportunity to put all of their newly developed communication skills into practice at a student symposium.
