Research Scientist, In Vitro Drug Discovery

Rubedo Life Sciences is a small and fast growing biotechnology company seeking a talented and passionate candidate to join our diverse team.  Together, we will discover novel medicines to keep everyone biologically young by targeting the pathological cells that drive aging. The successful candidate will work across programs and will play an integral role in Rubedo’s drug discovery platform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Execute in vitro experimental research protocols including cell-based, molecular and biochemical assays for drug discovery.
  • Develop and optimize new in vitro disease model systems and experimental compound screening protocols.
  • Evaluate compound properties including mechanism of action and selectivity. 
  • Advance compounds forward, from hit compound to lead compound. 
  • Maintain detailed, accurate and up-to-date lab records.
  • Learn new techniques, skills, and scientific topics. 
  • Work collaboratively on projects while driving individual contributions.
  • Regularly present project updates to colleagues and champion innovation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Cellular and Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant research laboratory experience.
  • Peer reviewed publications or direct contribution to successful drug discovery projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced and diverse team environment.
  • Passionate about life sciences research, innovation and drug discovery.

Preferred Experience And Skills:

  • Experience in small molecules drug discovery in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in compound screening and automated liquid handlers.
  • Knowledge of the biology of aging and cellular senescence. 

Environmental Conditions / Physical Demands:

Physical:lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally, standing, bending, repetitive movement, etc.
Environmental:exposure to wet lab environment, blood borne pathogens, live animals, and toxic or caustic chemical or reagents
